Jennifer Lynn Adams
Former Miss Wheelchair America

Question

Congratulations on your reign as Miss Wheelchair America. What is the most important message or platform you want to share as a former Miss  Wheelchair America?

Answer

I am the former Ms. Wheelchair America of 2014.  My platform during my reign was Inclusion Revolution.  I have shared the message of inclusion in schools and colleges all over the nation.  My title has provided the opportunity to experience great adventures as an adaptive athlete drawing attention to adaptive sports programs in the U.S. In 2017 I was selected to represent the United States as Miss USA, for the first ever Miss Wheelchair World pageant held in Warsaw, Poland. Following the pageant I traveled to Sweden, Chile and Canada.  This pageant title has opened the doors for a global adventure.

Question

What is the most surprising or interesting part of your tenure so far?

Answer

I am surprised at how much this title has opened the doors to my dreams.  I have had opportunities I never thought possible and that brings me great joy! The interesting part of this adventure is that I have had the opportunity to meet and hear the stories of extraabled people from all over the world. I am now very well versed in the joys and struggles that extraabled people face globally and it fuels my passion to make a difference for all of us.

Question

What is the most impactful thing you hope to accomplish?

Answer

In 2015 I founded the non-profit organization Making Dreams Come True.  We have created the word extraabled to replace the word disabled.  Disabled means to be made invalid or ineffective.  That is not a good definition or way to describe any human. It is our mission to create more empowering language around people who have physical or mental differences. We hope that the word extraabled will soon replace the word disabled, globally

Question

What is your advice to young ladies that are pursuing pageant

Answer

Stay away from drama. Pageants are riddled with it.  Stay positive and focused on your platform and being the change you want to see in the world.
